Part-Time MCAT Test Preparation Instructor

Oxford Seminars is currently recruiting ambitious and enthusiastic individuals to deliver weekend MCAT test preparation courses.

The ideal candidate enjoys teaching, sharing and presenting information in a way that helps others improve their own understanding of the MCAT. Our students are looking for a dynamic instructor who can engage, motivate and guide them to MCAT success.  We provide new instructors with training, a comprehensive curriculum and resource materials to minimize preparation time.  Instructors can typically expect to teach two to four weekends a year, plus additional one-on-one tutoring opportunities are available.

Expectations: 

• Prepare, instruct and administer weekend courses
• Engage students of all ability levels in a stimulating learning environment
• Deliver an established curriculum in a confident and interactive manner to enhance the students' mastery of the MCAT and enrich their learning experience
• Facilitate the learning environment by fostering dynamic class discussions
  • Expose students to a variety of strategies and questions including:
    • Reviewing specific scientific principles
    • Effective problem solving in physics, chemistry and biology
    • Critical reading of passages
    • Drawing proper inferences and deductions
    • Working strategically under strictly timed conditions
    • Learning to recognize wrong answer types
    • Developing an effective personal study schedule
    • Provide guidance to students by sharing MCAT experiences

Requirements: 

• MCAT score in the 98^th percentile or higher with an excellent score on the Biological Sciences section
• University graduate currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate from, medical school
• Prior teaching/tutoring experience
• Mature, motivational and professional disposition
• Ability to relate to students on a personal level
• Available to teach on weekends

Wage:

• $50 per hour
